Nursing Times Award 2025 finalist - Dani Nebres, Lead Nurse

Congratulations to Dani, NIHR King's Clinical Research Facility (CRF) Lead Nurse, who has been shortlisted in the Nursing Times Awards 2025 for the Dame Elizabeth Anionwu Award for Inclusivity in Nursing and Midwifery.

Dani collaborated with Cat Harvey, Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) Lead, the King's CRF PPI group and the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Lead from King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust to implement additional training at the CRF about topics such as cultural intelligence, transgender awareness, health inequalities and more.

This training will now be expanded and soon will be available to over 200 research staff across King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, ensuring research is equitable and that everyone feels welcome and represented.

Dani said: "I’m incredibly honoured, deeply humbled, and thrilled that our project, "Embedding Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Principles into Research Settings", has been shortlisted for the Dame Elizabeth Anionwu Award for Inclusivity in Nursing and Midwifery at the Nursing Times Awards 2025.

“This recognition reflects the power of true collaboration and shared purpose. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who has played a part in this journey — especially our exceptional King’s Clinical Research Facility team, whose commitment to inclusive, patient-centred research is both inspiring and unwavering.

"Thank you to our invaluable PPI group members — their lived experience, insight, and dedication have shaped this project at every stage. This would not have been possible without them.

“Being shortlisted is already a tremendous honour. I hope this recognition helps shine a light on the importance of inclusive, representative, and equitable research — not for accolades, but for the patients, carers, and communities we aim to serve better every day.”
